Creepy Commute: Photos of MTR taken over by ‘zombie apocalypse’ go viral

What with The Walking Dead, World War Z, iZombie, and this year’s gory box office hit, Train to Busan, the zombie virus has truly taken over… pop culture, that is.

It comes as no surprise then, that local “zombie walks” drew so many Hongkongers. One photo in particular, picturing around 40 undead baseball players crammed into an MTR carriage, went viral yesterday:

Two separate Facebook posts featuring the same photo have garnered a cumulative 23,000 likes and reactions, with the majority of commenters praising the zombies’ efforts (and laughing at the one guy in the shot wearing regular clothes).

Another snap of the group mugging for the camera at North Point Station also surfaced, begging the question: “Do zombie athletes not get enough funding for a shuttle bus?”

Scratch that.

According to HK01, these photos were taken on Sunday during local group Zombies Paradise‘s annual festivities, which saw the gory guys and gals hit up Kowloon Bay, Lan Kwai Fong, and Wan Chai for brains (and drinks).

While this group effort has really impressed us over here at Coconuts HK, we have to acknowledge our favourite solo MTR costume, as modelled by this anonymous genius:

What an age we live in.
