Consumers complain dating agencies fall short of finding love

The Consumer Council received 22 complaints last year about dating services, up from eight in 2012.

One man searched for love through a dating agency but only found humiliation as the matchmaker told him that he simply wasn’t “qualified” for a relationship after multiple failed dates, including one where he said the woman kept sneezing and talking about her depression.

Another man accused a dating agency of putting pictures of South Korean celebrities on its website to mislead people, and advised people to read the fine print on these websites to avoid being misled.
