Yesterday a 60-year-old man died in a construction accident in Shek O Village.
At around 10am, the man, nicknamed “Little Gong”, was standing on a rooftop four metres above the ground and helping to lower down bags of mud when he fell. His thigh was impaled by a pole attached to a pushcart on the ground, reports Apple Daily.
While waiting for help, his companions removed the pole from his leg over ten minutes after the fall. He was declared dead at the hospital.
A doctor told Apple Daily that the removal of the pole may have caused the blood loss that led to his death, and that the pole should have only been removed at hospital.
“Little Gong” had reportedly been in the construction industry for 30 years, and was a beloved member of his neighbourhood, where he would often act as a handyman for free.
