Cocaine Ketchup: Man arrested in Hong Kong for smuggling cocaine in tomato sauce

A man arriving at Hong Kong airport has been arrested after customs found him to be carrying suspected liquid cocaine hidden in packets of tomato sauce.

The 32-year-old, who landed at Chek Lap Kok Airport from Colombia (where else?) on Friday, was stopped so officers could examine four packets of tomato sauce he was carrying.

An X-ray check revealed “suspicious images inside the packets”, with further inspection concluding that the man was concealing (suspected) liquid cocaine.

The suspect, who claims to be a mechanic, has been charged with one count of trafficking a dangerous drug and is due in court today.

The maximum penalty is life in prison and a fine of HKD5 million.
