A chief project officer of Hong Kong’s Civic Party has been cleared of molesting a male estate agent during a Thai massage at his Wan Chai home.
Wong Jun, 35, denied one count of indecent assault against the 21-year-old (only identified in court as X), who he met at the Walkathon for Democracy last June.
The two men exchanged phone numbers and met for a meal on Aug. 29, after which Wong invited X back to his flat for a massage. It is here that Wong was accused of touching the 21-year-old intimately.
At the hearing on Tuesday, Eastern Court magistrate So Wai-tak said, “After both X and the defendant had taken showers separately, X allowed himself to be fully naked at various stages [of the massage], while the defendant was all along half-naked,” reports SCMP.
“X made no complaint about the massage itself, save for … the alleged and consensual touching of his penis,” So added.
X claimed that he told Wong: “No need for that part” when the party officer removed his underpants, to which he said Wong replied, “I think you young people need to deal with it,” … whatever “it” is!
However, the magistrate found the alleged victim – who reported the incident to the police the next day – to be unreliable as he showered and suggested dinner with Wong the next night instead of leaving his house immediately after the offending massage.
The Civic Party is expected to hold a meeting after Lunar New Year to discuss if Wong, who is currently on leave, will return to the party following his acquittal.
