Police took a 59-year-old man into custody after he was forcibly detained by fellow MTR passengers for allegedly taking an upskirt photo of a female passenger on the train this morning.
HK01 reports that police arrested the man, surnamed Ma, at Tai Wai MTR station, and detained him on suspicion of outraging public decency.
Video posted online shows Ma, who is sitting down, being restrained by two other male MTR passengers accusing him of taking the lewd photos. It’s not clear if the woman with long brown hair seen in the video was the victim.
One of the men pinning Ma to his seat can be heard saying, “Don’t fight back, we’ve already called the police.”
Ma, meanwhile, protests his innocence, saying, “There’s nothing on my phone for you to see.” As if to underscore his point, he then redoubles his efforts to escape as a member of station staff boards the train at Tai Wai.
The case is currently being handled by the Sha Tin police district’s criminal investigation team.
