Mainland Chinese man hurls brick at U.S. Consulate, shouts ‘I want to see Obama’

A mainland Chinese man was arrested in the early hours on Saturday for attempting to break the glass front of the U.S. Consulate on Garden Road.

The 22-year-old, surnamed Huang, reportedly removed a brick near the planters outside the consulate and threw it at the building’s entrance at around 1am on Saturday, Oriental Daily reports.

After the alarm sounded, police arrested Huang while he shouted “I want to see Barack Obama! I want to be a U.S. soldier!” repeatedly. The case is currently being investigated by the Central Police District Crime Squad, who are looking for information on Huang’s motive.

As Huang – who holds a two-way-permit – was reportedly incoherent, police are also investigating if he was affected by any mental conditions.
