Badly translated dishes were found at many Hong Kong universities’ canteens, with pineapple buns translated as “Ultimate Rocky Bun,” fried chicken and French fries translated as “fried chicken leg with French,” and the most ridiculous: “chicken without sex” for young chicken and “tofu made by woman with freckles” for Mapo tofu.
Apparently, 90 percent of the 15 restaurants at eight universities in Hong Kong were found to have mistranslation or mistakes. To have such mistakes at Hong Kong universities is really turning our city into an international joke!
