‘Celebrity chef’ Harlan Goldstein pulls out of quadruple restaurant venture in Central

After all that talk of making his “comeback” to the Hong Kong dining scene, self-proclaimed celebrity chef Harlan Goldstein has rather abruptly pulled out of his quadruple restaurant venture at 8 Lyndhurst Terrace.

ZS Hospitality Group, the parent company of Goldstein’s company Golden Million, released a statement today announcing his departure, effective immediately.

A spokesperson for ZS told SCMP that Goldstein was leaving over “health concerns”, but a source familiar with the situation told Apple Daily that the chef’s personal views were “incompatible” with ZS Hospitality.

After splitting with his former partners at Worldwide Dining Group last year, Goldstein announced that he would be staging a comeback in April this year.

He opened three restaurants – Ee Da Le, My Tai Tai, and Mamasita’s Cantina – at 8 Lyndhurst Terrace over the summer and was due to launch the fourth and final concept, an Alice in Wonderland-themed concept named Eat Me Drink Me on the building’s ground floor this month. SCMP reports that a different restaurant concept will take its place.

Goldstein has reportedly declined to comment.
