Celeb tutor resigns after student alleges online that they had sex

“Star tutor” Oscar Ma has resigned from tutorial centre Beacon College in the midst of a scandal involving his alleged sexual relationship with a student.

A netizen who identified herself as a secondary school student of Ma’s posted on popular forum HK Golden last week reportedly claiming that Ma had pressured her into having sex with him.

Ma, 27, filed a police report on Sunday evening to complain that somebody was using the internet to damage his reputation, according to Oriental Daily.

Later, the poster attached what appeared to be screenshots and a video of intimate conversations with Ma on Facebook and WhatsApp. Beacon College released a statement at 1:40am yesterday saying that Ma had been suspended, and would be investigated by a college-appointed committee.

Beacon College’s founder, June Leung, who had previously been vocal in her support of Ma, said he was suspended after “convincing evidence” had come to light, HKFP reports.

Just after midnight today, Ma posted a status on his personal Facebook page announcing his resignation from Beacon College, effective immediately. Ma has consistently denied having sexual relationships with any of his students.
