Caught clean-handed: Man accused of smuggling liquid cocaine disguised as hand wash into Hong Kong

A man will appear in court in Hong Kong today accused of smuggling liquid cocaine disguised as hand wash into the territory.

The 39-year-old was intercepted by customs at Hong Kong International Airport on Wednesday after an X-ray revealed suspicious packages in his hand luggage.

Officers examined four packets of hand wash which they believe contain liquid cocaine.

The man arrived in the country from São Paulo, Brazil, via Amsterdam, Netherlands.

He will appear at Tsuen Wan Magistrates’ Court today charged with one count of trafficking a dangerous drug.

The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of HKD5 million.
