Cathay Pacific drops to 4th in ranking of world’s top 100 airlines

It probably comes as no surprise that Hong Kong’s beloved airline for decades, Cathay Pacific, has become less and less impressive in past years.

Skytrax, an airline consultancy, recently announced the results of their annual World Airline Awards. Unfortunately, Cathay has dropped from last year’s third place to fourth this year. It’s safe to assume that passengers have not responded well to what now seems like butt-clenching seats, little to no leg space and food that’s mediocre at best.

Every year, Skytrax conducts surveys to create a ranking of the planet’s top 100 airlines, along with rankings for various other, more specific categories, known collectively as the Passenger’s Choice Awards.

Cathay was actually named best Airline by Skytrax in 2014, but was replaced by Qatar and Emirates in 2015 and 2016, respectively. With Emirates at number one, Cathay now falls behind number-two Qatar and number-three Singapore Airlines.

Cathay did, however, place in multiple other categories, including first for having the cleanest aircraft cabin, which seems to be little comfort when you’re sitting in those oddly designed economy chairs that don’t actually recline, with your back slumped and your ass slid a foot forward.
