Finally, animal abusers are put in rightful places for being cruel to animals. The Hong Kong court today put two men behind bars for brutally attacking a stray cat last year.
The duo was witnessed to have kicked the cat like a football in an estate in Kwun Tong last November, causing the cat to suffer severe internal injuries and had to be euthanised the next day. Both men received 16 months jail time, the heaviest punishment the Hong Kong court has ever handed down for the offence. A third woman involved will be sentenced after a drug rehab report.
The court said that it is hoped that the harsh sentence will act as a deterrent and strong message to people that cruelty to animals will not be tolerated.
