The Consumer Council has urged parents to put socks on their children before putting plastic shoes on them after finding carcinogens in three out of 28 plastic children’s shoes.
Research has found that long-term skin exposure to these carcinogens found in plastic shoes can affect liver function and development, especially if the feet has eczema or an open cut, which increases absorption rates.
The Consumer Council urged parents to reduce skin contact with these kinds of shoes by putting on socks first, and prevent children from touching these shoes with their hands or mouths. Better yet, don’t let your kids wear plastic shoes!
