The woman, surnamed Fung, was disembarking a taxi to pay her respects at Wo Hop Shek Cemetery at around 10am when the incident occurred. Fung, aged 81, was knocked into a ditch by the car, and witnesses reported that her whole face was covered in blood.

The 81-year-old was hospitalised for head injuries, while a younger male relative, aged 27, was hospitalised for injuries to his hand. Their taxi driver, a 50-year-old man surnamed Tse, was also admitted to hospital for injuries to his neck.

According to Apple Daily, the influx of cars was due to Wo Hop Shek Cemetery being closed over Easter weekend, causing a large volume of visitors to pay their respects ahead of Ching Ming Festival on April 4.
