A romantic smooch in the park turned sour when a canoodling couple decided to mug a man who they thought was filming them.
The potentially pervy victim, a 28-year-old man surnamed Tse, tried to convince the lovers that he had not been filming their antics, Sing Tao Daily reports (as translated by EJI). But the image conscious couple were so fearful of the video going viral, that they mugged him of his smartphone and HKD1,500 cash.
Tse ran to the nearest shop to call the police, but the lovers were nowhere to be seen by the time the officers had arrived. Tse was later hospitalised for facial injuries.
They did, however, find a phone case near the alleged scene of the crime in a public park in Lower Wong Tai Sin Estate.
Police are therefore on the hunt for a 25-year-old man in a black shirt and a 20-year-old woman in a pink dress. That is, if they’ve managed to keep the same clothes on after their frisky fiasco in the park.
Even if Tse had been attempting to film the couple, he’d apparently only get in trouble if he was trying to nab a dick pic. Solicitor Vitus Leung indicated that someone taking such videos in a public place would only be committing an offence if they were targeting someone’s private parts.
Leung added that if an act of filming is deemed a public nuisance, the culprit might be liable under an ordinance against loitering. The subject or subjects of the film would still need to prove that they had suffered financial loss or emotional distress to warrant loitering charges though.
However, if the couple had engaged in “indecent behaviour”, they would have broken the law. By our books, PDA above the age of 15 is pretty disgraceful.
No comment has been passed as to whether the couple are liable for the alleged attack and theft.
