Hong Kong obviously has the best food in the world, so it’s no surprise when hipsters start appropriating bits of our culture into their newest, wackiest culinary inventions.
So don’t be so surprised if you’re walking down a street in Santa Ana, California, and you come across egg waffles, a Hong Kong street food staple, being served with ice cream, according to Cosmopolitan magazine.
We’ve seen our fair share of shitty wontons and nasty sweet-and-sour pork abroad, but we have to admit adding that Cauldron Ice Cream’s idea of using waffles as cones is downright genius.
However, we’re not so thrilled about the idea of calling them “puffles”. What’s wrong with “gai dan zai” (or, “little chicken eggs”)?
Whatever they’re being called, prepare to stare and drool:
Alright, who wants to bet a hip new eatery will be serving these in Hong Kong within three months?
