Bystander apprehends criminal who stole an Octopus card… with HKD10 on it

At 5am yesterday, a vegetable truck driver went to Kai Yip Estate Market in Kowloon Bay to deliver goods.

He accidentally left the vehicle unlocked when he went to unload the greens, and an opportunistic criminal decided to slip in and grab whatever he could find

Luckily for the truck driver, two men, who happened to be watching the scene unfold from a nearby car, sprung into action.

First, they made the responsible decision to call the police before one made the perhaps less responsible decision to follow the thief.

Thankfully the police arrived on the scene just as the Good Samaritan was apprehending the criminal.

They recovered the driver’s stolen Octopus card, which contained a little over HKD10.

According to Apple Daily, the police also found “burglary tools” onthe suspect, including scissors and a torch.

Clearly, they were not a good investment.
