Build and race go-karts, mini-drones & remote-controlled cars at the PMQ mini-maker carnival this weekend

Ever feel nostalgic about building and racing little Lego cars? Ever look at kids playing with building blocks and get irrationally jealous? Well, guess what? This weekend you can forget you’re an adult with real responsibilities and pretend you’re a kid goofing around with toys instead.

As the official education partner of the Formula E ePrix – the world’s first all-electric motor racing series – for its upcoming Hong Kong race in October, MakerBay will be hosting a family-friendly mini-maker carnival this weekend (Aug. 19-22). The event gives people of all ages the opportunity to build a wide range of fun and educational toys – from go-carts to drones to box forts – complete with the chance to race your masterpieces against other people’s creations.

Events include:

  • building a community bubble, a giant bubble for you and your friends to hide in
  • building and racing your own mini-drone that can be controlled with your phone (!)
  • building and racing a go-cart powered by an electric cordless drill (?!)
  • building a remote control car with upcycled materials and racing it in first-person with VR technology (!!)
