‘Buddhist nuns’ seen purchasing luxury handbags

Netizens have been in uproar after a pair of women who appear to be Buddhist nuns were photographed apparently purchasing handbags from French luxury brand Longchamp last week.

The photo, which was uploaded to Facebook on Sunday by a netizen under the dubious name of “Period Mushroom”, shows the nuns at the Longchamp counter of Lane Crawford in Sha Tin’s New Town Plaza, according to Oriental Daily

Could it be that these women plan on stuffing their swanky new Longchamp totes with Buddhist texts and scrolls?

Commenters think not; many netizens have expressed their disbelief that the women are in fact, real Buddhist nuns. One person came up with the rather catchy (but inaccurate) comment, “monks buy AV, nuns buy LV”, in reference to an apparent monk (pictured below) who was recently photographed flipping through stacks of porn in Taiwan.
