After a Lunar New Year so warm that people were sun-bathing on the beaches, the unpredictable weather has now dipped to record lows, with temperatures at a chilling seven degrees Celsius this morning — colder than the coldest days of December.
At least ten elderly or ill people died yesterday from the cold, and in Ngong Ping, it got as cold as 2.2 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in the New Territories are two or three degrees colder than the city.
We can look forward to single-digit temperatures for the rest of the week, with a high of 10 degrees Celsius. Next Monday, temperatures will rise to 16 to 20 degrees Celsius. Totally, brrrr!
