Yet another case of Hong Kong people doing embarrassing things in Taipei!
A Hong Kong woman decided to go to Taiwan for plastic surgery after a car accident made her nose crooked. The operation was paid for by her boyfriend with his life savings. However, they underestimated their travel expenses and ran out of money, and, unable to change their plane ticket to go home, they decided to steal various items from a supermarket for the woman’s recuperation after the surgery — including vitamins, cosmetics, and socks — which totalled NT$7,000 (HK$1,800). They were caught at the cashier, where they tried to cover up their crime by buying bread. Both were arrested despite their pleas.
