When you’re partying on Lan Kwai Fong, be sure to be respectful of other revellers’ fashion choices.
Two Brazilian football players from Hong Kong’s Premier League were allegedly bottled by a 28-year-old chef from the Dominican Republic in the early hours of this morning because they laughed at his hat.
Whether the accused was wearing his chef’s hat or not is unclear.
Police say Clayton Afonso, 27, of the Dreams Metro Gallery team and Paulo Da Silva Argolo, 29, from BC Rangers, laughed at the man shortly after leaving China Bar on D’Aguilar Street at around 3:30am.
“After the two victims left the bar, they met the suspect on the street and the three had an argument again,” a police source told the SCMP. “In the middle of the dispute, the suspect allegedly grabbed a glass bottle and attacked them.”
“[Afonso] was bleeding from his forehead after being hit with a glass bottle in the alleged assault,” the source continued. Da Silva suffered cuts to his hands and face.
The footballers were bandaged at the scene before receiving further treatment at Queen Mary Hospital, but were discharged before noon today.
Police are treating the matter as “assault occasioning actual bodily harm” and are investigating further.
