If you think you have your wallet’s safely protected when you’re out on the street, the latest attempted razor theft is an example that you can’t be sure about anything.
A netizen surnamed Wong wrote on the Facebook community page Eastern Locals yesterday that he had almost lost his wallet to another passenger on a bus.
Wong detailed how he saw three “suspicious” looking men whilst taking the 8X bus home, one of whom sat next to him despite the fact that the bus “wasn’t even packed”. “I covered my wallet with my hand instinctively when he was moving,” he said.
The man got off the bus shortly afterwards, according to Wong.
Later, Wong discovered that his back pocket had been sliced open in an attempt to remove his wallet, and uploaded photos of the damaged to his jeans and banknotes.
Commenters were amazed by how the thief could lay his hand on the wallet when the owner was on guard, but most of them said Wong should have reported to police and stopped the man from fleeing.
