Boarding blunder forces Asiana flight to turn back to Hong Kong

As the old adage goes, there are many ways to reach a destination. But if you’re travelling by air, there are rules and procedures to abide by, apparently.

Yesterday, Asiana Airlines flight 722 bound for Incheon, South Korea, was forced to turn back to Hong Kong International Airport after the discovery that one of the passengers did not belong on the flight.

As far as Asiana Airlines is concerned…
NO FREE RIDES.

The passenger, a 29-year old man from South Korea, was supposed to take a Jeju Air flight – also to Incheon – that had been scheduled for departure 40 minutes after the Asiana Airlines flight.

Both aircraft landed safely and no one was arrested.

Though the bizarre incident did not disrupt operations, the police were called and said they will investigate how the man managed to get through safety checks.

Former Civil Aviation Department director general Albert Lam Kwong-yu told the SCMP that he was surprised by the incident, adding that there might be problems with the airline’s procedures.

Ya think?
