Blame the cold weather for expensive Valentine’s Day flowers

If you feel like flowers are way more expensive this year, they are!

Because of the cold weather, heavy snow in Kunming in the Yunnan province – where a lot of flowers are exported from – damaged nearly half of their flower production. Additionally, the Chinese will be celebrating both the Western and Chinese Valentine’s Day today.

Flower shop owners said that they were forced to increase retail prices by 5 to 10 percent because wholesale prices went up by more than 20 percent.

So if you’re a last-minute boyfriend, be prepared to pay big bucks for not pre-ordering a bouquet of flowers for your loved one(s) in advance!
