After several bird flu cases were reported in Guangdong, which supplies Hong Kong with poultry, Hongkongers are putting seafood on the table instead to celebrate the winter solstice.
Some are keeping up with tradition by buying more expensive locally farmed chickens to be safe.
Despite Guangdong closing all their live poultry markets today for deep-cleaning and sterilisation, disposing more than 125,000 chickens, consumer faith in poultry from China is still shaky reports The Standard.
Bird flu or not, we say go for the locally farmed chickens anyway — buying any kind of food from China these days is just not worth the risk!
