The Hong Kong Monetary Authority advises Hongkongers to be conscious of opening fraudulent websites and sharing personal information online.
A recent email has been circulating, pretending to be sent from HSBC, that comes with a hyperlink that leads people to websites like www.elka.sklep.pl/tmp/ and www.distribeauxarts.com/img/ . The website then asks users to key in personal information like their HKID number, date of birth and credit card information.
HSBC has told The Standard that these emails have not been sent by them and they have no connection or links to them at all.
Uh-oh, be careful, if in doubt, call your bank via the general hotline to check whether the email you received is legit.
