Basketball demigod LeBron James visited HK yesterday to promote his new shoe line

Basketball nerds around the city peed their pants yesterday when LeBron James visited Hong Kong yesterday as part of a five-day your of China. He showed up at a Mong Kok to promote his new Nike shoe line at a sports store, where unsurprisingly, a legion of fans numbering in the hundreds waited for his arrival.

He was also at Nike’s RISE Challenge, where 12 of Hong Kong’s best young basketball duked it out in a stadium holding 1,500 eager spectators. Wong Lut Yiu, a 20-year-old Hongkonger, came out on top. The lucky winner not only got to high-five LeBron and show off his hoop-shooting skills in front of the king himself, but he also won a trip to a training camp for rising Chinese players in Shanghai, reports the SCMP.

Wong said that “off the court, [James] is very friendly, easily approached and actually quite naughty”.

He also turned up at a father and child’s camp at HKU, which eleven lucky kids and their even luckier dads got to go to after entering a Facebook competition. Aw.

If this is the first you’re hearing of James gracing our city with his presence, we’re sorry to report that he’s already gone to Taiwan to continue his tour, hence maximizing the chances of everyone to have their babies blessed by James.
