Bang Bang Flu Shot Me: Flu shot subsidy for children and the elderly to increase

Yesterday the Controller of the Centre for Health Protection, Dr. Leung Ting-hung (pictured above), announced that the subsidy for flu shots for children and the elderly will increase from HKD130 to HKD160 for the upcoming 2014/2015 season. Woohoo!

Under the Vaccination Subsidy Schemes, children between the ages of six months and six years are entitled to up to two doses of subsidised seasonal influenza vaccine per year from private doctors enrolled in the programme. Elderly people aged 65 or above can get one subsidised dose a year from enrolled private doctors. Priced charged vary from clinic to clinic, so the cost paid by patients will differ.

There are 1,600 private doctors enrolled in the Vaccination Subsidy Schemes, so parents and grandchildren have no excuse not to get their dependents vaccinated. What’s a second of pain compared to a sickly week of flu?

This year’s flu shot protects people against four specific strains of flu that the World Health Organisation predicts will be making the rounds in the northern hemisphere this flu season.

But anyway, we know you won’t be letting your kids or your grandparents get flu shots because they clearly cause autism. JUST KIDDING, please, please get flu shots. Flu shots do not cause autism. We repeat: flu shots do not cause autism.
