What?! A Band 1 English secondary school, Po On Commercial Association Wong Siu Ching Secondary School, forbade students from dating and then announced over 10 names during a morning assembly that the school suspected of dating. Many denounced this move as invading students’ privacy, and psychologists even commented that shaming them damages their dignity.
The principal wrote an editorial in the school publication that he strictly forbade dating, and after repeating it over assembly, a supervisor went on stage to call out over 10 male students’ names, and requested that they come into the office, shaming these students.
This is so wrong! Dating is a rite of passage for teens and forbidding it can seriously affect their their ability to build relationships in the future.
