The body of a 35-year-old man, who went missing on Sunday, was found today. Authorities believe that he fell to his death from Lion Rock.
The man, surnamed So, reportedly disappeared from his family home in Chai Wan on Sunday. His family filed a missing persons report at 3am on Monday, after he failed to return home, according to Oriental Daily.
At around 11am yesterday, a man surnamed Lee found a red bag and empty cans of beer on Lion Rock, but could not find the person they belonged to. Lee opened the bag and found a wallet, an HKID, a mobile phone, a knife, and what appeared to be a suicide note.
Lee called the police, who proceeded to search the area all day and night with firefighters. They attempted to find So using infrared cameras, but visibility was poor as a result of heavy fog.
After calling for assistance from Civil Aid Services personnel, So’s body was found nearly 250 metres below the cliff at around 9:15am today, and is suspected to have fallen to his death. His corpse was not retrieved until nearly 4pm.
