‘Aussie expats’ are back to fight gender inequality in latest satirical video

The Expats, the local comedy group that brought us “Aussie Expats Fight Racism in Hong Kong!“, are back with another video, this time about gender equality, or the lack thereof.

(Happy belated International Women’s Day, by the way!)

In this episode, the two “Aussies” complain about sexism and vow to fight the problem.

Fittingly, they filmed the video in Wan Chai, Hong Kong’s epicentre for the sexual objectification of women.

The thoughtful gentlemen helpfully suggest alternative ways to address women: “Oh hello, nice mind you have there today! That’s a lovely pair of… thoughts.”

The short clip is funny, but we think they could have used their satirical tone to dig deeper into the subject. It’s a start, we guess!

It seems like the Expats are going to attempt to (half-assedly) address every touchy issue in the city. What’s next, xenophobic anti-mainland sentiment?
