Last night, two robbers armed with axes hijacked a truck in the New Territories.
When the truck driver Chan (50) stopped at an oil-filling station in Lok Ma Chau, a man in a cap forced himself onto the truck and forced the truck driver to head to Yuen Long. En-route, another man boarded the vehicle. The driver was later threatened with axes, blindfolded, tied-up and so was unsure where the goods were unloaded when questioned by the police.
The driver was abandoned along with the empty truck near Tuen Mun Town Plaza and managed to untie himself before seeking help from a security guard who reported the incident immediately to the police.
The SCMP reports, the stolen goods consisted of 31 boxes of electronic components worth USD2 million (HKD15.5 million), as well as the driver’s mobile phone.
No arrests have been made and investigations are underway. The two robbers are around 30 years of age and were wearing light-blue shirts at the time of the robbery.
