If you’ve ever wanted to sail through Victoria Harbour à la Jack Sparrow (who hasn’t?), now’s your chance.
While a cruise on a traditional junk through our pleasure boat and pollution-packed waters isn’t quite the same as captaining a pirate ship on the Caribbean Seas, the climate is similar – so it still counts, okay?

On Sept. 19, the Aqua Restaurant Group is offering all HKID holders a complimentary trip on their traditional Chinese junk boat, the Aqua Luna (Johnny Depp not included).
The old school wooden junk, which will be adorned with gold sails instead of the usual red to mark Aqua’s 15th anniversary, is Hong Kong’s last Chinese junk hand-built over an 18-month period.
You can hop on board and alight at any of the four piers: Wan Chai public pier, Central pier 9, Tsim Sha Tsui pier 1 and Hung Hom public pier.
While you’re waiting in a huge line for the 45-minute harbour trip, you can also enter Aqua Luna’s biggest-ever competition. All you have to do is snap a photo of the limited edition golden junk from any location in Hong Kong and upload to Facebook with the hashtag #aqualunaspotted.
The competition is already open, with the lucky winners to be announced on Facebook soon. Prizes range from complimentary dinners to bottles of Veuve Clicquot.
Considering how all Hongkongers are on their phones anyway, at least this way you have the chance to get something out of your neck ache and carpal tunnel syndrome.
