One is an American chef and TV personality who eats his way around the world and films it for his own CNN food and travel show Parts Unknown; the other is an Australian-born cinematographer based in Hong Kong known for his work on Wong Kar-Wai’s Chungking ExpressIn the Mood for Love, and 2046.

The two men we are talking about are, of course, none other than Anthony Bourdain and Christopher Doyle, who were spotted sharing a meal outside a restaurant on Central’s Elgin Street just off Hollywood Road.

So what was the establishment the pair were feasting at you ask? You would be forgiven for thinking they were grabbing a bite at Korean fast food restaurant Seoul Brothers.

In fact, they were getting food from a humble stall outside called Leaf Dessert, which sells Cantonese soup noodles and Chinese style desserts, and is a pretty popular establishment judging by the reviews on restaurant-finding app Open Rice.

Most of the items on the menu are around HK$30, and we at Coconuts HK are fans of their beef brisket noodles.

Most people just couldn’t resist getting a picture with Bourdain, but some were too scared to ask as the pair were filming.

While others went all in and asked for a selfie.

Of course this not the first time the well-travelled Bourdain has come to Hong Kong, other famous establishments he has visited include Yat Lok Barbecue Restaurant in Tai Po, Lin Heung Tea House in Central for dim sum, and Tung Po at North Point’s Java Road Cooked Food Centre, which CNN once described as “Hong Kong’s wildest dining experience”.
