Anson Chan’s brother had a mistress for six years

The former chief secretary Anson Chan Fang On-sang’s younger brother, Philip Fang Chung-sang, recently jumped to his death at his private residence (read more about it here). But even after death, he is still making headlines as reporters uncover his dirty little secret – his mainland mistress of six years.

A reporter found that Fang had previously shared an apartment with a mainlander, Cheng Simei, before it was sold six months ago when they separated. The current owner of the flat told EastWeek magazine “Cheng said she was living with a Hongkonger who used to be rich. Now he is poor, old, and ill. He couldn’t give her happiness any more so they separated,”

Cheng also told a Eastweek reporter earlier this year “she was the girlfriend of Fang and they had met in Macau.” “I knew he is married and much older than me. But they (Fang and his wife) did not live together any more. He treated me so well and I wanted nothing else,”

Cheng knew Fang came from a good family but stressed their relationship had nothing to do with money. In fact she said he was the poorest of all his siblings with no property but she enjoyed their simple life.

Cheng never met Fang’s family.
