Proving that being an adorable child lets you get away with things that could quite possibly get adults murdered: this carriage full of kids flipping out on the MTR.

The short 15-second video showing five boys going nuts on the East Rail line is doing the rounds on social media at the moment, attracting a broad range of reactions — from the ‘awww’  boys-will-be-boys variety, to calls for good ol’ fashion discipline.

It features four young whippersnappers doing the so-called “elephant spin” and one little fella in the background spinning on handle like a figure skater on fast-forward.

The video appeared online yesterday and was picked up by Apple Daily yesterday, although it is not clear when it was taken.

It is not clear which school the boys go to. Some have joked that they were probably students attending one of China’s Olympic training camps, where children as young as 4-years-old are put through gruelling 10-hour training sessions each day in pursuit of sporting stardom.

In terms of gold medal glory, only the kid at the back looks to have a shot, with some commenters asking if he was available to give gymnastics or ballet lessons. The other four will probably have to wait until turning around in loose circles becomes an Olympic sport.

For some netizens, the “group of monkeys” brought some much needed Wednesday morning cheer.

Others, though, were a bit more mean-spirited.

“The whole class has something wrong with their brains,” said one, with others criticizing parents for not disciplining their kids.

Another (hopefully joked) that the kids should be put into an incinerator (which probably just means anywhere without air-conditioning at the moment).

Most, however, stepped in to defend the kids.

“Who wasn’t like this as a kid?” said one.

Others argued that kids in Hong Kong these days are so stressed with the amount of homework they get (and it’s a lot), that it was  refreshing to see some just having a bit of fun.
