Animal cruelty laws in HK are just fine, revisions not necessary

Even though there have been loads of reported cases of animal cruelty lately, the government says there isn’t a plan, as there isn’t a need, to put harsher punishments in place.

Secretary for Health, Ko Wing-man told lawmakers that the Cruelty to Animals ordinance was reviews in 2006 already and penalties were increased to a maximum fine of HK$200,000 and three years’ imprisonment.
