A 19-year-old aircraft mechanic severed more than 20 wires controlling a plane’s mechanics and autopilot system because he was angry, a court heard yesterday. The damage was done on a Boeing 767 owned by the Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company. While it was being serviced at the Chek Lap Kok Airport last February, the teen mechanic, who was supposed to carry out the maintenance, cut the wires in anger, though it’s unsure what he was angry about. The judge denied bail, calling it a serious offence that endangered the safety of others.
