A 90-year-old Hong Kong woman has died from pneumonia as the city shivers through the latest cold snap.
The Hospital Authority confirmed yesterday that the woman was one of six people aged 50 to 90 taken into Accident and Emergency Departments across the city over the weekend.
She died shortly after arriving at Eastern Hospital, Apple Daily reports.
Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man remains in a critical condition at Pamela Youde Nethersole Hospital. The other four people — two men aged 66 and 67, and two women aged 80 and 88 — are in a stable condition.
The news follows the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) issuing a cold weather warning on Friday evening.
Temperatures in urban areas dropped to as low as 10.3 degrees Celsius yesterday, while Sheung Shui recorded lows of 7.4 degrees.
The cold weather warning remains in place, with HKO saying there will be lows of 11 degrees Celsius and highs of 16 degrees, and that the cold snap is expected to last until Thursday.

The Centre for Health (CHP) and the Department of Health reminded the public to put on warm clothes, ensure adequate indoor ventilation and avoid prolonged exposure to wintery winds.
It also urged individuals to check up on elderly people or those with chronic medical conditions who are living alone.
The CHP also cautioned residents — ahead of New Year’s Eve festivities tonight — that alcohol cannot actually keep you warm, something Coconuts editors have duly noted.
