88-year-old woman dies after getting trapped under Sai Wan Ho Market delivery truck

An 88-year-old woman has died after becoming stuck under the wheels of a delivery truck at Sai Wan Ho Market, Chai Wan.

The light goods vehicle was being driven by a 56-year-old man who reportedly knocked down the elderly woman as he reversed into the market’s loading area at around 10:20am yesterday morning.

The woman had to be rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped under the wheels, and was eventually rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. She was in an unconscious state and had suffered serious injuries to the lower part of her body.

She was certified dead just half an hour after the accident.

The 56-year-old has been arrested for dangerous driving causing death, while investigations continue.
