A TurboJET ferry carrying about 100 passengers and 10 crew from Hong Kong heading to Macau at around 1:00am this morning hit an unknown object in the waters near Hei Ling Chau.
At about 15 minutes into the usually 55 minutes journey passengers were injured by the sudden crash. About 80 were injured and two seriously hurt report the RTHK.
The vessel was towed back to the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan. Medical staff arrived at the terminal to treat on the injured.
TurboJET manager, Wong Man-Chung is unsure what the ferry hit but no major damage was found on the vessel. He’s also quite certain no speeding was involved during the time of the accident and that the high number of passengers injured was likely due to many not wearing seatbelts.
