75-year-old man charged with rape of 12-year-old daughter

A 75-year-old security guard has been arrested over accusations that he raped his 12-year-old daughter multiple times, local media reports.

The man, identified in court as YHL, was charged with two counts of rape today at the Kowloon City Law Courts. The case has been adjourned until March 20, pending further investigation by the police.

According to Ming Pao, social workers regularly visited the family as the 75-year-old and his wife previously had “emotional disputes”. The accusations first came to light on Friday evening, after the couple’s daughter, identified as X, told a social worker that her father had subjected her to repeated sexual abuse.

After X’s mother, 35, was told the news, she brought the 12-year-old to hospital and filed a police report, resulting in her husband’s arrest at around 8pm.

According to Headline Daily, YHL has been accused of raping his daughter in their Sham Shui Po apartment on Sept. 1, 2014, when she was only 10 years old, and on July 3, 2015.

At Kowloon City Courts today, the 75-year-old was denied bail as he had allegedly confessed his guilt under police caution.
