7-year-old’s letter revealed alleged rape by father

An anonymous letter sent by a young girl to her teachers last year revealed that she had allegedly been raped multiple times by her father, the High Court heard yesterday.

In video testimony played to the High Court, the victim, identified only as X, said she had been raped six to seven times by her dad, who wasn’t wearing a condom, starting from when she was 7-years-old, the Hong Kong Economic Times reports.

Prosecutors believe they found enough evidence to press forward with two counts of rape and one of indecent assault, though the defendant — a 44-year-old decorator identified only as HKH — has denied all charges.

In the video seen by the court yesterday, X revealed that she put the anonymous note into a mailbox set up by the school’s sex education program. It read: “Will I get pregnant if I was forced to have sex with my dad?”

She said in the video interview that she initially didn’t tell anyone about the incidents because her father had told her to keep it between them, and that he would be arrested if anyone found out.

Then, on Nov. 21, 2017, just two days after the last alleged incident, X sent the note, which was then read by her teachers, leading the school to take action to identify X and call the police. She was 10-years-old at the time.

According to HK01, X said in the video interview that the first incident took place in the summer of 2014.

She was at the family home in Tuen Mun and had wet the bed, and asked her dad to help her fetch some clean clothes for her to wear.

It was at this point, X said, that HKH pushed her onto the bed and rubbed his genitals against hers for two to three minutes.

X said she initially didn’t know what was happening at that time, and told her mom two months later. Her mom got angry, prompting HKH to tell X not to tell others about what had happened, on.cc reports.

The court heard that X’s parents got divorced in 2016 following a domestic dispute.

In addition to her videotaped testimony, X also appeared via video link to answer questions presented by defense lawyers, and denied suggestions that she was coached by her mom to frame her dad.

The trial continues.
