60-year-old hiker found dead on Lantau after going missing for 15 hours

A 60-year-old hiker has been found dead on Lantau Island 15 hours after he was reported missing.

The hiker, surnamed Tsang, left his home in Pak Tin Estate at around 9am yesterday. He was reportedly hiking towards the Yellow Dragon Stream on Lantau Island, Apple Daily reports.

He called his family at 6:30pm yesterday to say he had gotten lost on the way and felt unwell, but soon lost contact. Tsang’s relatives called emergency services, who dispatched an overnight search party to find the 60-year-old to no avail.

At around 11am, rescue workers found a dead man matching Tsang’s description lying face down at Por Kai Shan. His body was airlifted by a Government Flying Services helicopter to the mortuary at Eastern Hospital.
