5-month-old baby stricken by H7N9

A five-month-old baby girl contracted the H7N9 avian flu after visiting a poultry market in Guangdong with her grandparents.

The baby girl lives with her family in Foshan, Guangdong, but was in Shenzhen the past week.

Last Sunday, the baby started running a fever and vomiting, and arrived in Hong Kong with her parents at night, where they took a taxi to the emergency department at the North District Hospital. She was later transferred to Queen Mary Hospital and is now in stable condition. This is Hong Kong’s seventh case of the avian flu.
