They weren’t exactly caught red handed, but police have arrested five men on suspicion of throwing red paint at four luxury cars in what was believed to be an attack targeted at a company executive.
Ming Pao reported last night that police arrested the five suspects — aged 27 to 56 — in various districts on Tuesday, August 21, on suspicion of criminal damage.
They were arrested on suspicion of being involved with a paint bomb attack on four luxury cars that were parked outside the home of Bankee Kwan on Jardine’s Lookout in Wan Chai.
All suspects have been released on bail pending investigation, and must report back to the police in mid-September.
Kwan is the boss of home furnishing chain Pricerite, and its parent company Celestial Asia Securities Holdings, also known as CASH Group. His company owned two of the cars, while the other cars belonged to the owner of an adjacent house.
It was reported that posters were placed on a wall near the state alleging that Kwan hadn’t settled a debt, and that the vandalism was linked to a stock dispute.
Shortly after the paint attack, CASH Group published a statement saying the company is financially healthy.
