Hong Kong has no shortage of vertiginous walls, but there’s only a few you can actually climb. For those blessed with upper body strength and immunity to vertigo, here are some of the top bouldering and climbing gyms in Hong Kong for you to play out your Assassin’s Creed/Deadpool fantasies.

ATTIC V is currently the only bouldering gym on Hong Kong Island, which is great for all the people who are enclosed in its bubble and reluctant to leave it. The gym has over 100 routes that are constantly changing and is run by a couple who have climbed all over the world together (awwwww). They offer courses for both beginners and intermediate climbers.
Where: ATTIC V, 4A Yally Industrial Building, 6 Yip Fat Street, Wong Chuk Hang (Google Maps)
Cost: Prices start at HKD80 for a day pass

Although they don’t have a physical gym, Rockstars is the perfect organisation if there’s a kid in your life who wants/is being forced to learn how to climb is a climbing organisation designed specifically for kids. The courses take place over 12 weeks at Hong Kong International High School’s climbing wall in Tai Tam. Kids from any school can attend and are gently encouraged by various prizes when they reach certain milestones
YMCA is a 266-square-foot wall solely dedicated to top rope climbing rather than bouldering, so make sure you bring a climbing buddy and are prepared to be harnessed up. The wall attracts climbers from all sorts of levels and offers both introductory courses and improvement clinics.
Where: YMCA, 41 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui (Google Maps)
Cost: Prices for a session start at just HKD42 or HKD32 during Happy Hour (no, there isn’t a bar at the YMCA)
GoNature via Facebook
GoNature is the biggest climbing gym in Hong Kong and for that reason it’s probably one of the best, although also one of the busiest. It has over 100 routes for both bouldering and climbing, all designed by a qualified route-setter, so chances are you won’t conquer them in one session unless a radioactive spider has bitten you. GoNature also has courses for both adults and children at any level of experience so if you’d like to see your child fall from height under supervision, this could be the place to get started.
Where: GoNature, G/F Wing Hing Industrial Building, 14 Hing Yip Street, Kwun Tong (Google Maps)
