First, Siu Sai Wan residents get to dine with a gang of wild boar. Now, they’ve been visited by a creature belonging to another species: a five-foot-long python.
At 8am on Friday, a Siu Sai Wan Estate resident found a massive python seemingly caught inside the netting put over construction barriers.
As happens in Hong Kong when a large snake appears in the vicinity of human beings, the police were called and a snake expert arrived on the scene.
The python was not cooperative in his rescue however, and resisted the snake expert’s efforts to retrieve him, reports Oriental Daily.
But finally the snake expert managed to wrangle the python using his bare hands. No person nor snake was injured in the process.
It is reported that the serpent belongs to the Python regius species, which is commonly found in Africa.
The snake expert suspects that the animal is domesticated and that it is a pet of a nearby resident. He suggested that the python took advantage of all the construction work and snuck away for an extra meal.
The snake’s stomach was bloated when it was caught, so we’re guessing his snack mission was accomplished.
